To say that my blog is neglected is an understatement.
When I get busy, it turns out this is the last thing that I do. So from the last thing that I posted until now, I have a TON of fun/beautiful/adorable images to show! Hopefully I’ll get into a routine during this off season and post them!
Brooke & Dave are hilarious. This past September, we wandered through Cheesman Park & The Denver Botanic Gardens for their engagement session and had a blast. Dave was actually the best man at one of my Weddings in July (another I’ll hopefully post) and I was really excited when they called me about their wedding.
I love when a couple decides to go somewhere that means something to them for their session, and it turns out that Dave actually proposed at a special spot of theirs in the Botanic Gardens. (you can see them sitting on a cool wooden bench towards the end of the post & that’s their spot, tucked away on one of the side trails)
We had fun, we laughed, and on top of that, we had sweet light and a beautiful day to work with. In my mind, it doesn’t get much better than that. I can’t wait for their wedding this summer.

Where to even start… what a beautiful, fun day! It seems as though every weekend I find myself in a different place. Downtown Denver, Winter Park, Aspen, etc. I love it! But there was something so special about starting my day at Liz’s parents house just up the street from my studio here in Evergreen. Not only did I spend the entire day less than 15 mins from home, but I got to share the day with wonderful people and other great vendors.
Some of you may know that recently we have started a group here in Evergreen called EverWedd. A few of the vendors who call Evergreen home got together a couple of years ago and realized that we have some amazing talent living here in Evergreen! Many of us end up all over the state every weekend for various events, which is just how this industry works. But how great would it be if we could help promote one another locally and get to work together on a regular basis? Well, Liz’s mom, who lives here in Evergreen thought it was a brilliant idea! The Moyle/Carlson wedding used a record 11 EverWedd members! I can’t tell you how amazingly smooth it made the day. You see, I didn’t have to introduce myself to the DJ, he was already a friend! I gave Liz, the florist, a hug when I arrived, and I knew exactly who to ask about dinner on the catering team when I got a second to grab a bite to eat. It was so wonderful! It was like working with a big family who is all interested in the other’s success and the experience of our clients. Add in a super fun wedding party, a fabulous wedding planner, a Frank Sinatra impersonator, a beautiful location, and an adorable couple, and you pretty much get one of my favorite weddings ever.
I have to tell a story though. Even the best laid plans, with wonderful people, still end up with hitches on their wedding days. The important thing is how you deal with it! Here’s our fun story for the day. Liz & Dave had arranged for a very large, 26 person Hummer Limo to pick them up at the church. There had been a few hours scheduled in between the ceremony and reception. Guests were headed to their hotels to freshen up, and the wedding party was headed out in the limo with the bride and groom to a beautiful location for great pictures. Everyone piled in the limo and the driver followed me us to the park just a few minutes away! Well all of the sudden I realize that the limo isn’t behind us any more. Huh. That’s strange. So Tyler and I pull over to wait… and still nothing. Hmm. So we turn around and head back down the road to see what’s up. We find the very large limousine headed BACKWARDS back down the street! As we pull up to the driver, he shouts out, “I think we lost the transmission!” We clear the road behind him and not too far back, we find a pull off large enough to accommodate the super-sized car. Sure enough, after emptying the limo’s passengers onto the side of the road, it’s confirmed. It will not go forward. It’s a goner. Being the amazing couple that Liz & Dave are, they didn’t sweat it all. And my thought… Guess we’re taking pictures here! Luckily we were within the parks’ boundaries, so everything was open and accessible. (If we had been just a bit further back we would have been stopped in someone’s front yard!) I called Emily, the wedding coordinator, and let her know what was going on. Because the schedule had so much time set aside for us to take photos, we weren’t in any hurry, and it gave her plenty of time to arrange a new ride for us. In the meantime, we had a party on the side of the road! (I’ve included it in a few pictures) We cranked up the music in the limo, opened the doors, brought out the champagne and had a grand old time. JUST as it started to sprinkle, our new shuttle arrived and we got to the lake house 5 minutes prior to our scheduled time! HA!
This just shows how important it is to have a team you can trust. I was on the phone with Emily right away, assured the bride and groom that things were taken care of and relayed all the important information to Emily. (this is one of the MANY reasons it’s great to have a coordinator! Can you even imagine if I would have had to call the mother of the bride to try and figure out how to get 26 people back to the reception?!) Emily kept me updated and I was ready to scrap the plan of the park and what I had scouted and go with the flow! And really, I think we’re pretty lucky we live where we live because the images are still beautiful! I don’t think it would have been nearly as easy if we were stranded on the side of the highway in Denver.
But Bravo to Liz & Dave who didn’t get stressed about it one bit! We actually had so much fun that I can’t imagine their day any other way. Huge congrats to Liz & Dave! Thank you so much for asking me to be a part of your day!

Over the past few years of shooting professionally, I’ve had the opportunity to work with several couples that are way more than clients, but close friends. Some of these friendships were created during our time together, while others, well… have been there long before either of us even thought about getting married. This would be one of the latter.
Eric was one of my very best friends in High School. We knew each other as early as 7th grade, but really didn’t become close friends until our freshman year. That was the first year we had EVERY SINGLE class together. Can you even believe that? How often does that happen?! Something like 7 class periods a day (I think… it’s been awhile!) and our schedules were identical. That sure allows you to get to know a person REAL well. haha. Over the years we studied together, went to dances together, helped each other through melodramatic high school relationships, did a dozen or more plays together, and when Eric got his license he was even my ride to school. Poor guy had to wait on me EVERY morning. I was never ready on time. Sorry, Eric! haha. I think it’s possible that I spent more dinners at his place than my own our Junior year, and I’m pretty sure I was the only girl allowed in his room for a long time. I think that’s because his parents saw me more as a daughter, and I considered his family a second to my own. We certainly acted like brother and sister most days. : )
Before the days of facebook, we went off to college on separate sides of the country and lost touch pretty much completely. We “found” one another on facebook awhile back and reconnected just as I had with so many other high school friends and it was fun to see what he and his family were up to 10 years later. So needless to say, I was super excited when Eric contacted me about shooting his wedding to his fabulous girl, Katie. She is absolutely adorable and I have a feeling we could be fast friends, which doesn’t surprise me in the least. If we could both put up with Eric, we had to have something in common, right? : ) Catching up with Eric and getting to know Katie has been a lot of fun and I can’t wait for their wedding this July.
I met these two at their home and we took their 2 pups to Washington Park. After a few images there, we headed out downtown. These guys are big Rockies fans, so we took a few around Coors Field and then decided to keep playing as it got dark and use the lights of downtown to our advantage. It was great!
Eric & Katie- Thanks for being so willing to wander all over downtown with me! I’m so excited to be working with you!

Well as you can see from the images, April 23rd was a snowy day in Aspen. While local kids were wondering how they were going to find Easter Eggs the next morning in the snow, Lucia & Chris weren’t stressing about the weather at all.
Personally, I was just so glad it was snowing and not raining because, photographically, that is just so much prettier! Ha! But then, of course, it snowed during the entire ceremony and proceeded to turn to rain right about the time we were headed out for photos. Go figure. But these guys were such good sports about going out to play and get the most of their day despite the cold, wet weather. They figured, well it’s Colorado in April! It could’ve been 80 degrees or 20! So they decided the weather was going to do whatever it wanted and they were willing to just go along with it! (Which is just the right attitude to have. No reason to get upset about something you have no control over!) Poor Lucia was covered in goosebumps and we were all a little soaked by the end of our time running around the Hyman Avenue Mall to take pictures, but I love them! It was completely worth it. ; ) AND we did get a few with the falling snow in them after all.
Their ceremony was at the beautiful Aspen Chapel and the reception at The Sky Hotel. Lucia & Chris are such a fun couple and I can’t thank them enough for asking me to be a part of their day. With a day full of laughter and emotion, it was my pleasure to capture all those moments. Congrats, you two!

Erin I love the new blog! How cool!! What a wonderful wedding. The black and white at the end is my fav!!
Keep up the awesome work!
I am always so excited to photograph a new born baby, but it’s even more special when it’s the new addition to someone I know. Katy and I are both members of a fabulous business group- WEB. (Women of Evergreen Businesses) It was one of the first groups I was introduced to when I moved to Evergreen, and I have quickly become very attached to all these wonderful ladies. Katy happens to be the owner of Get Moving Chiropractic. I have to add that I am never one to go to a doctor very often. I am one to work through little issues and move on with life. Well this winter, I wasn’t really in a position to ignore my pain. Darrell and I finally got to the lake to go ice skating. Something we have been meaning to do for the past 3 winters that we’ve lived here! and wouldn’t you know it, I fell. HARD. Yeah this wasn’t just a tiny fall on my butt, this was a flat out, feet straight out from under me, bounce my head off the ice so hard it really did bounce, kind of a fall. I was in such pain. I didn’t have a concussion (which was almost hard to believe), but my neck hart so badly, I couldn’t function. Time to go see Katy. She happened to be out on maternity leave (shocking right, since the whole point of this post was a BABY!) ; ) But her husband Issac was amazing. He got me all out back together again and now, I can’t believe I didn’t spend every week I’ve known them in their office getting pampered and taken care of. Ahh, the sweet bliss of an aligned back, no headaches, and Katy’s neck massages. Just heaven. haha.
Anyway! Back to the subject of this beautiful babe! Michaela was born on January 6th and we took these photos just ten days later. She was an absolute doll and the only thing wrong with this session is that it made me want one of my own. ; ) (someday, mom, I promise) Here’s just a few and you’ll see many more since they have purchased a baby’s 1st year package. We’ll get to see Michaela grow up together!

Well done! Love the night shots!
Love the new blog! Always wanted a sideways flow. Also dig the nightshots!
